Recall of Beef Products Due To Possible E. coli O157:H7 Contamination WASHINGTON, June 28, 2009 (USDA Press Release) - JBS Swift Beef Company, a Greeley, Colo., establishment is voluntarily expanding its June 24 recall to include approximately 380,000 pounds of assorted beef primal products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Start of Summer Rains Means Mosquito-Breeding Opportunities Tucson, Arizona - May 22, 2009 2:27 p.m. - The monsoon has not yet returned, but recent rains are bringing much-needed moisture to our area. The rain also means that mosquitoes now have ample opportunities to establish breeding places if residents allow it. This increases the chances for West Nile Virus to spread. Pima County Health Department
On April 16, 2009 the new fee increases for Pima County Health Department services went into effect. The increases, reviewed and endorsed by the Pima County Board of Health, were necessary to offset the loss of general fund support to the various Department programs.

FDA Warns Not to Eat Nestle Toll House Prepackaged, Refrigerated Cookie Dough On June 19, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned consumers not to eat any varieties of prepackaged Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough due to the risk of contamination with E. coli. A temporary food establishment permit is REQUIRED from the Health Department to prepare and serve food at events or celebrations open to the public. Previous applications will not be accepted for events.
