Quit Tips

If you're asking this question, the chances are that you have been thinking about quitting smoking or chewing tobacco for a while now. Maybe you even tried it a time or two (or three or four...) So,why are you still using tobacco?

Many people blame lack of willpower. Others deny that they want to quit at all. We know that neither of these is the case. You know that:

  • You want to quit;
  • You need to quit;
  • and, You can quit!

Maybe you just need some better reasons to quit smoking or chewing. At Tobacco-Free Ways, we can help you find the right reasons to help motivate you to quit, and teach you the skills to do so.

Pima County
  • 20.9 percent of teens in public schools have used tobacco in the past 30 days.
  • More than 6.4 million children living today will die prematurely because of a decision they will make as adolescents - decision to smoke cigarettes.

For these reasons, Tobacco-Free Ways offers school-based tobacco prevention and education activities, focusing on youth in fourth through either grade in eleven Pima County public school districts. These activities emphasize the dangers of tobacco use and second hand smoke, while teaching students refusal and other important life skills. Students in the 6th through12th grade who have completed the TFW school-based program are encouraged to join S.W.A.T., Tobacco-Free Ways' youth coalition. More about SWAT

In addition to encouraging youth to never use tobacco, Tobacco-Free Ways also works with retailers to eliminate the ability of youth to access tobacco products in the first place. Free merchant education services and training are available by calling Tobacco-Free Ways at 740-3031.
