1. Tell everyone you know that you quit smoking.

Chances are that someone around you is encouraging you to quit using tobacco. It could be your spouse, your children or another person who loves you. Make sure they know that you quit so they can be there to support you by cheering you on to success. They may also be able to make your surroundings and activities less stressful during the first couple of weeks.

You may also have friends, co-workers or loved ones who also smoke. Let them know that you quit. It's likely that they will support your decision, wishing they could do the same. They will also think twice before asking you if you want a cigarette or smoking around you. Who knows? Maybe your strength and resolve to quit using tobacco will be more addictive to them than nicotine.

2. Go to places you can't use tobacco like the movies, the mall or the library.

Having fun at places where smoking is not allowed does a few things. First, smoking becomes a hassle, an inconvenience that you realize you can do without. Second, you learn that you don't need to smoke to enjoy yourself. You can finally go places with your children and not have to excuse yourself to go outside to smoke. This will make them happier too.

3. Don't carry tobacco products with you.

Better yet, throw it all away. Yes, all of it- cigarettes, lighters, ashtrays or anything else you use to make smoking an easy addiction. The tougher you make it to light up or put in a dip, the easier quitting will be. The inconvenience, and the expense, of replacing it will make you ask yourself "Is it worth it?".
