FLU VACCINE INFORMATION

The flu vaccinations are highly recommended for certain categories (per The Centers for Disease Control):

	Adults over the age of 49
	All children 6 months through 23 months of age
	Children under 3 with chronic medical conditions
	All women who will be pregnant during influenza season
	Residents of nursing home and long-term care facilities
	Children 2 - 18 years of age on chronic aspirin thereapy
	Health-care workers with direct patient care
	Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of children less than 6 months of age.
	Out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of persons in high-risk groups

People with flu-like symptoms should stay home to avoid infecting colleagues, or classmates. Parents are encouraged to keep babies and young children away from people who have flu-like illnesses.

Below are recommended immunizations by age: Recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule - Recommended immunizations for infants and youth up to age 6 according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Recommended Adolescent Immunization Schedule - Recommended immunizations youth age 7 to age 18 according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
