The Pima County program is funded with Federal, State and County dollars. |

The philosophy of TB Control is to provide the most current effective tratement known for tuberculosis, to the people of Pima County. |

The purpose of TB Control is to: |

Identify and treat individuals with active disase |
|
Locate contacts to active cases, test and treat (prevent spread of disease) |
|
Provide active surveillance to high-risk populations |
|
Treat and monitor latent infection (decrease pool of infection) |

Pima County Health Department TB Control operates a clinic five days a week staffed by Public Health Nurses and a Physician with expertise in management of TB disease and TB infection. |

All cases and suspects receive their medication by Direct Observation (DOT) |
 |
All cases and suspects are treated without cost to the individual |
 |
All cases/suspects have a Public Health Nurse Case Manager |
 |
Case investigations are completed around each active case. Contacts are screened, and treated if necessary. |

Consultation is available to Physicians or Health Care Agencies of the Community on all aspects of TB Care. |
